Somatic Therapy and Retreats to support you on your journey to more freedom, more connection and less pain

Hi, I'm Mary and I'm a Somatic Therapist and Yoga and Meditation Teacher.
Fascinated by us, our relationships with ourselves, each other and our planet, I believe we have an innate capacity to heal ourselves with the right tools.
My aim is to create an inclusive environment of non-judgement and hold a safe space for self-enquiry in all aspects of my work.
My invitation to you, is to give time and space to explore personal healing, growth and evolution
What I do
Somatic Therapy
I am a Somatic Therapist with over a decades worth of experience working with people in recovery from physical and emotional trauma, including survivors of domestic and sexual violence, those in recovery from substance misuse and those with mental health challenges. Over the years I have used CBT, DBT and person-centred talking therapy to support my clients, however more recently, as I have discovered on my own journey through trauma recovery, I have come to use Somatic Therapy more and more, and in particular Somatic Experiencing.
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based therapeutic practice developed by Dr. Peter Levine to address trauma and stress-related disorders, including Complex PTSD (C-PTSD). The core idea behind SE is that the energy (or charge) of an unresolved traumatic event, or series of events, gets stored in the body, and manifests into physical sensations such as chronic tension, pain, emotional dysregulation, syndromes and disorders.
Through gentle inquiry into what is arising in the present moment, I will support you through a process to release this charge, by tuning into bodily sensation, arising emotions, images, memories and movement in the body; and thus release pain and tension, and resolve dysregulation, to support your system to feel more regulated, well and whole.
Somatic therapy is helpful for anyone who has knowingly experienced a traumatic event or events, and also for those who do not know their history but nonetheless are experiencing challenges. These may include, but not exclusively: chronic pain, sleep disorders, anxiety, any kind of syndrome (such as chronic fatigue syndrome, EDS etc) and anyone who has challenges with boundaries, feelings of safety and those who wish to experience more joy in their lives.
Retreats
I have been facilitating retreats since 2015 and continue to love these deep healing and transformational spaces.
You can find me leading on Magick Retreats.
Where we offer a full retreat programme with preparation and integration work before and after your psilocybin journeys in both group and 1:1 settings.

I also support on The Reconnection with Laura Wilkes and Lauren MacDonald
Psychedelic experience Facilitation and Integration
As well as facilitation on psilocybin retreats, I also offer assistance during 1:1 ceremonies and psychedelic assisted therapy, preparation and integration. I offer somatic work (including voice and breathwork) as tools for facilitation and integration of the psychedelic experience.

Since a psychedelic journey will often give you access to other parts of your psyche, it is important to feel grounded in your body - somatic therapy provides you with tools to do this, and supports you to feel more anchored in your body and is a way to process these heightened states in a safe, manageable way.
During and after the intensity of a psychedelic experience, somatic techniques can help regulate the autonomic nervous system, reducing anxiety, fear, or stress that might have arisen during the journey.
I am available for sessions online prior to your retreat or ceremonial experience, during the retreats that I also attend (though spaces will be limited - due to time) and after you retreat/ceremonial experience.
"After spending a week on retreat with Mary I feel I am finally back in my body, after 2 children and years of neglecting myself. Thank you"
